I always heard a Merc was just a Ford with lock washers,, the pic of the 49 Merc coming down the line in front of a Ford pretty much supports that

Fords and Mercurys came down two separate lines at the Rouge, that photo was from the drive away garage inspection line. Dave
 
On page 24 - post 478 does anyone have info on the results of this test ? Old Henry's thread about crappy mileage could use a little perkin up !! . Also this is a long winded thread well worth looking at !!!!

I went back and looked at the listings in the Library of Congress' archives; didn't see any accompanying story to go with thos pictures. Maybe someone else knows?
 
Thanks for the effort . Just hoping someone had info on these things . I thought I had some but if so it's lost in the mess . With the current thread on mileage the results of some of these tests could be interesting .
