Old car insurance

Just got a letter from State Farm. It appears that either they bought Hagerty or they are partners. The letter stated that my policy will have some changes upon renewal. Ugh

I welcome state farm. had Selective on my home and nothing but a PIA. two 3 hr inspections within 2 yrs. no claims ever.

State farm- take 10 photos of your house and we're good. Like a good neighbor...........

Hagerty has been, in my understanding, sold out long ago. They are 'Corporate' now.

So take that accordingly. Ya takes your chances with any big outfit like that....

Yes, i heard that too, hagerty teamed up with state farm. i would look into something else. maybe grundy?

Hagerty sold around 15% to State Farm 4 or 5 years ago.Business as usual. My dad wouldn't do home repairs on State Farm or Travellers covered homes.A body shop here wouldn't do work on Geico covered vehicles.About 15 years ago Metlife got me pretty good on repairs to a stolen and recovered theft. My dealings with Hagerty were no questions asked, with followup calls asking if I was satiffied with everything.

Yep, not the same family run company it once was. In the beginning they got 15% of the company, and at least one board seat. But board seat(s) give influence.

State Farm are real a++ holes.... this is bad news....

Will keep my options open currently have Hagerty but not married to them...

SF based in Bloomington, Illinois. We know a number of people who work in their central office there. Many have quit and gone on to other jobs. They tell us that they are treated like scum by the Corporate owners, not what it used to be....

I have used American Collectors for well over 20 years. In that time I had to file 3 claims. One was a structural collapse of a garage and two were destroyed in a natural disaster.

They came through 100% and didn’t question the “Agreed Value” . I will be staying with them.

Now along the same lines with USAA, I have an older (2007) daily driver that was put on minimum insurance, and I declared that I would only use it less than 1500 miles a year. The car stayed in this status for at least 3 years. They had me send in pictures of the odometer each year to verify this status. I have no doubt that USAA will do anything and everything to deny coverage.
I had an accident in my wife's 1965 Mustang (not my fault- another old dude pulled out in front of me) and although it took a long time while trying to get it repaired American Collector's finally totaled it and paid promptly. My other three antiques are still insured through them.

Several years back I had my '69 Corvette insured with J.C. Taylor. An unmarried 21 year old girl with two children pulled out in front of me without looking and I T-boned her, taking off the nose of my car back to the doors. J.C. Taylor denied the claim stating that uninsured/underinsured claims covered personal injury only. I've since converted to Hagerty as they seem to be much better with paying claims. Last year, my nephew's '31 slant windshield was parked and subsequently rolled into the hedge surrounding his house. The place he took it to wanted $17K to remove a dent extending over the doors and a scratch on his fender caused by the bumper being pushed into it (way expensive in my opinion - covered a re-paint of the body but not the hood). Surprisingly Hagerty paid the full claim, no questions asked!

I had USAA and was claim-free for 20 years until one day, an underinsured drunk driver hit my wife head-on. Ambulance ride to hospital, many tests and scans, stayed a few days in hospital care, totaled car, etc. We had $1M in "uninsured motorist" coverage on our USAA policy, so I figured we would be just fine. Turns out, the drunk had the California state plan (because he had prior DUIs and was not insurable by a company) and they only paid up to $15K, WE were responsible for all the rest (medical costs, car totaled, etc.). USAA said that yes, we had $1M in "UNinsured motorist" coverage, but not "UNDERinsured motorist" coverage. They told me to take the $15K and be happy. Between the hospital bill, medical bills, and cost to replace the car, we were out over $150,000!!!! The drunk skated....

I sued USAA and only recovered the $50K in "underinsured" coverage, minus my attorney costs. I dumped USAA and got some REAL insurance. And, I made sure we have both "UNinsured" and "UNDERinsured" motorist coverage, IN WRITING!

Country Financial Just weeks ago started insuring antique autos. Say they can beat Hagerty prices.
