When I was a kid, I remember my father talking about how Taxis got enormous life out of their engines because they were always running warm. A car that would be lucky to get to 100,000 miles in private hands (yes, we used miles then!) would get say, 5-7 hundred thousand miles as a taxi. I remember being incredulous when I heard that they even have to replace the exhaust manifold during the taxi's life because they would wear a hole in it.
There has been discussion here in the past about thermostats in your Model A. I have always run one for this very reason - get the engine warm asap. There will no doubt be some who poo hoo these findings but several decades of proof is hard to ignore, IMO.
