Oil seal in 32 steering box.

I thought I would show how I put an oil seal in my 32 box. I made a plug that went in the end of th sector housing to keep epoxy out of the bushings. I put JB weld in the recess formed by the plug and the original casting recess. Once dry, I machined it out to accept a standard lip seal. I had made a mandral to put the housing on so the squareness and concentricity would be accurate.

I will see if I kept the box. It is easy to get a seal. Just go to a bearing supply co and ask for a lip seal. 1 3/8 od x 1 1/8 id x 1/8 deep.
I did not have to cut any of the housing. I did make a very light counter bore to the bushings just to make sure I could replace the bushings later and not disturb the seal shoulder epoxy.
The shiney metal on the flange is where I passed a file over it to check for flatness. The seal is all below the surface. The flange had some high spots.
