Has anyone had a new oil pump[melling HV]that had low oil pressure.I have narrowed my problem[15# OP] to either a missing front plug or a oil pump. I want to put a mech gage on to make sure. Thanks Phil
Verify the pressure with a known good mech gauge before you condemn the pump. Pumps don't really make pressure they produce volume.the engine internal clearances on bearings have a big responsibility in creating acceptable oil pressures. Kind of like putting your thumb over the end of a garden hose and seeing the results. Hardly any pressure until you begin to apply pressure and close up the end. Then it builds up.Yes there have been known pump problems over the years but confirm pressure first. You could have an issue with the pressure relief valve in the pump to early to say.Phone the tech line @ melling they will help you. They want a happy customer.
