Oil pressure sending unit

Hey all. I've got a 1936 Ford Pickup with the original engine. It doesn't have an oil pressure gauge but I'd like to connect one before I fire it up for the first time.

I was looking at Mac's and there are a couple of kinds out there. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to order from a site like Mac's or cg ford parts? Looking to get the sending unit that'll fit and the gauge that'll work with the sending unit. I just don't want to screw up and order the wrong thing.

The 50# unit should be correct for your 36 unless someone has installed a high pressure/volume oil pump. They are not being reproduced in 50# to my knowledge, only in 80#. There is a 50# sending unit available for Jeeps I am told. It will fit and work but a threaded adaptor is required.

Was just looking at the new Mac's catalog and they now have a 50# oil pressure sending unit listed. Part # 48-9278 at $54.25. Ed

Do you guys know if there are any specific gauge I should get that would work with a sending unit like that? I've never put one in, wasn't sure if they'd be compatible. I guess I can just call Mac's to find out if they know.

Macs does have a 50# unit as Ed says. We must have to pay for new manufacturing set up. as it costs $14.30 more than the 80# unit I am glad to see this since my dash gauge would not go over 15 to 20 p.s.i. I checked the oil pressure with a regular mechanical gauge and I got nice oil pressure. So, I put the 80# unit back on and lived with it.

There is a dual gauge, oil and fuel, that came on 36 cars and deluxe pickups I believe. I put one on mine. I did find a #50 sender after looking for a long time, if the Mac's one is good that would be great. When I first set the gauge up I put a mechanical gauge on a tee in the sender line to check that they were the same. I then took the mechanical gauge off.

Well that's good news that someone is finally offering a 50# op sending unit. I hope it's a quality item. I don't look at the MAC's catalog very often but will take a look now. Two of my original '35 standard models did not come from the factory with op gauge/sender so I installed mechanical gauges instead.

The sending unit that works with a stock 50# gauge is available at ANY parts store. If you are not going for judging points this thing woks for a driver. Either get a Standard Motor Products PS-60 or use that number as a cross reference. They can be had for about $20.00 at your local parts store. It usually takes no more than 1 day to get them in hand.

Thanks all. This truck doesn't have a stock gauge but I'll find one that works with one of the senders you mentioned.

Side question just out of curiosity. I assume the original gauges were all mechanical back in 36?
