Oil pressure sending unit for a 38 Ford?

So I'm trying to get the gauges working in my roadster and I'm kind of stumped when it comes to what sending unit i need. Im running 38 ford gauges that are being stepped down to 6v. I've looked and looked and i keep getting two different answers for sending units, a 50psi model and an 80psi one. Looking through parts books, i keep coming up with the 80psi, standard # ps-108. Is this the right one that i need or do i need to find a 50 psi? And would anyone have a part number for it if that is the case. Thanks, John

John, the part number you're looking for is 48-9278. This is a 50 lb sending unit, identified by either a #50 on one wrenching flat, or with no number at all. If you have to settle for a unit with a #80, that would be for the post war Fords, and while it will give a reading, the reading will not be accurate. If you're not concerned with originality, I believe someone said the Jeep sender is a #50 lb unit.

not sure which you need for your gauge, but here is a link to a 50 lb. sender that will work with a 50 lb gauge.....pretty sure it's a direct fit to the flathead engine....Mike
