I changed the oil using 20-50 and added a qt of Lucas Engine Treatment. I was at 55 pounds at start up and after warm up it read 28 pds. I drove it on the highway for about 30 minutes and it stayed at 28. As I was idling into my garage it dropped to about 22. I can live with that. Thanks guys for your advice. - John

Also, The engine swap I am considering is mostly for sentimental reasons. I was really lucky to meet a retired mechanic when I bought my truck. Ralph loves building old Ford trucks and he has taught me so much. Last year he rebuilt a 1964 292 with a Holley two bar. to go into his "last truck" 56 F-100. He recently finished a chromed up 302 and plans to swap out his 292. I want to buy Ralph's motor because I would appreciate his work with every ride and it would kind of complete my truck's story. My current 292 is a 1962 with a Holley 4 bar. Would you guys swap the carbs and intakes or leave well enough alone? - John

If you have gone for a ride in your friend's truck, and are happy with the performance, I would leave it as is. JMHO
