Oil pan weeping

1936 First Generation Flathead V8. Small pin holes (3-6 ) from corrosion in the oil pan causing oil weeping. Any recommendations on fixing the problems now that I have the pan removed, again. Finding a replacement considered the last option. Looking for suggestions to solve the problem.

I have had success welding these pans. I grind away any paint, etc. on the outside and grind away all soft spots. Then apply heat to eradicate the oil. Once you believe you are done, fill the pan a bit with water and allow it to sit atop paper overnight.

I never repair my own pans if they weep. I find a good solid replacement instead. Yes, a few more dollars but the work to R&R the pan is something I would rather not do.

I have repaired many oil pans by doing exactly what Kube did. The only exception is that I always drill the dimple out so there’s no chance of contamination. After welding, I then put solvent, not water (even though that should work) in for an overnight soak. One last preventative measure is to take an air nozzle and blow around the entire pan. If there are any remaining pinholes, they will show up as an air bubble.

i have had sucess in soldering a couple pans, should sandblast or beadblast first which will expose the pinholes.

I used plain solder to repair the factory solder joint on
my truck pan with the large clean out. Also, patched (MIG and brazing) a large hole punched through it by a forklift, and a rust hole in one of the corners. It took at ton of work to get it where it is today.

Just an idea. How about using some Red Kote gas tank liner to seal the bottom of the pan.
Sure sounds like a simple but effective solution. Pass a light under the pan to identify the holes.

Thanks for all the suggestions. It looks like a combination of welding/ brazing and potentially using Red Kote on the interior of the pan.

35 to 48 pans are all usable with only minor variations of the oil return line. If its badly pitted all throughout I would find a better pan
