Hey Barners, changing the pan gasket on my 8BA, when ordering gaskets I forgot to get them for the round acsess panel. There were 2 , one inside and one outside . Will I be safe making these myself out of some thin gasket material? Or do I need to order them. Weathers geting nice and I'm really wanting to get this thing together. THANKS Jim

many of the auto parts stores sell the material in different thickess. Your safe making them yourself.

I keep a pile of it around, & the phone book cover, because whatever can go wrong will. Made ponchouts from sharpened pipe pluse store bought. Sometimes paint a flimsy or complex piece that can't be cut with a hammer to mark the paper. Homemade is so much cheaper.

Oh, & if is a soft surface such as an oil pan I use the cork as opposed to paper. Tractor supply I think is where I usually pick it up, 2 thicknesses of cork.

I think I would go with paper gasket materiel near .015" to .025" thick and coat it with a quality silicon sealer at assembly. That's what i do with my old truck clean out pan.
