Oil lines

I've been looking every where to find information for the oil lines from the filter to to the port on the back of the block and from the bottom of the filter to a port at the intake. Size lines and fittings? This a 24 stud from 39 panel.

1/4" pipe thread in block, I used 1/4" stainless tube and brass fittings. At the inlet to the filter housing I used a brass elbow and filled it with solder and then drilled a .060" hole as a restrictor to minimize pressure loss, based on what I read here. A lot of guys use rubber oil lines.

One point, the return line does not go to the intake manifold unless you are refering to the fuel pump stand. Depending on the year the return can go to a banjo fitting at the fuel pump stand or the timing cover. These require a special hollow bolt. Later years connect to the block just above the oil pan or the oil itself.

The drain on the bottom of the filter goes where? And the other runs from the back of the block at the pressure sending unit to the side of the filter? A good picture might help.

Here are a couple.

As stated earlier, Ford also suggested routing the return line to one of the fuel pump stand bolts for a period, but change this to the timing cover. There are various reasons giving for why the fuel pump bolt return was not a good option, but not sure of the real reason. IMHO the oil pan return is the best way to go.

This photo show one reason the fuel pump stand is less desirable, the hollow bolt is above the bottom fitting so the filter canister will not completely drain. In hindsight I should have used the oil pan with the drain port in the side and installed a baffle. I used a pan with a baffle but no drain port.

Here is shot of the 1/4" stainless line using brass pipe fittings. I had to wait for daylight to get the photo: this time of year I go to work and come home in the dark.

Perhaps you may want to reconsider your reasoning. The two .060 dia. drain/return holes are located about 3/4 the way up the center tube and the level will not go below that. Which means that the fuel pump bolt will be below the drain level.
