"deuce roadster"'s post got me thinking. I remembered that I had pulled the original engine out of my '51 when it started making a funny noise at 80,000 miles. I have owned this car since 1987, and purchased it from a relative of the original owner's cleaning lady (got that?). It was originally owned by two bachelor farmer brothers from Montevideo, MN. It was their pampered "Sunday go to Meeting" car and was always properly maintained. I, of course, also maintained the car properly. It ran great when I pulled it but the engine noise had me worried. I remember that I had taken a picture of the engine right after I pulled it out. I finally found that picture and am posting it here to show what the inside of an original flathead looks like when it has been properly maintained using detergent oil (at least for the last 35 years).
