Oil leak

Ok so my engine has been totally rebuilt by a very reputable company.

After it runs, it leaves a puddle of oil on the ground about the size of a silver dollar.

Is it normal for these engines to leak?

I am used to modern engines that don't leak, so I am still trying to understand whats normal and what is not.

Thank you,
Clay

First call would be to the reputable rebuilder. Any molesting you do until then is not something I would do, other than what would be necessary to get you home if the engine decided to crap out.

no it should not leak.. but many rebuilders wont do anything about it if they do. did you assemble the tin (pan, valve cover) and flywheel housing? the pan and or the rear cam gaskets could leak also...

Howdy,
I agree with Bob, How many miles do you have on the engine? THE 1st Call--Inform the engine Builder of the situation!

Run it a bit, like 1000 miles, maybe try a different oil like 15/40 Pennzoil, let the rebuilder know, Model A's always drip a little but should only be a few drops after running awhile.

Original or repro dipstick, where on the dipstick do you have the oil level----the owners instruction book says up to the "F"---if the oil level is covering the "F" it is too high, try the oil level a little below the F

There is another thread going on regarding "oil level". Here is the link: http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=183946
Check out the comments as it may have some merit for your situation.

I rebuild engines and find there is the occasional engine that requires the oil level be kept half way between the "F" and "L" marks to be leak free. Given the stated amount of your leak, it could be any one or more of multiple causes.
I agree with the comments above about discussing the leak with your engine builder before taking anything apart. As always, when chasing a leak, execute careful examination to determine the exact location of the seepage. Hope your problem is something simple and easy to remedy.
Good Day!
