Oil leak

I would think that if the cars leaked as much as has been said as "normal" ---a few tablespoons---if it was a common when they were new there would be mention in the service bulletins ---but the only mention is about the breather cap, that if it is pushed below the stops you will have a rear main leak

Nowadays it is expected that a car not leak a drop, in the 30s a drop or 2 was expected, but a new car wasn't leaving puddles ---I say that if your car is properly restored it shouldn't leave more than a drop or 2.

On long, higher speed runs, most Model A's throw a little oil out the filler pipe. It runs down the side of the block, disappears behind the starter, & drips off the flywheel housing, making you believe it's a rear engine leak. Some put an old sock over the filler pipe, to prevent this. Running 1/2 Qt low helps this also.

Hey Bill,
I have done as you state here for many years....even tho my B does NOT leak and/or 'mark its' territory' ! But, only 1200 miles on it, so still time for it to become 'normal' ,eh :) !
