Plan on installing a oil gauge. The fitting that is installed in the block is it the one that hold the dist. in place? And if so my oil pump doesn't have the spring on the bottom of the oil pump that help hold it up.
There is no way the distributor hold down can be used to access the oil system or the pump. The connection you want to use is the plug just above the pan rail on the passenger side.Plan on installing a oil gauge. DogYou do know that the oil pressure in an A is near zero when running?
AND, Henry knew that if the oil pump, or it's drive broke, the car would just DIE suddenly! Why scare yourself? When you see what the oil really is. You'll think you have a bad engine, on it's last legs and why isn't it making more noise? My 1952 8N tractor was 40lbs at idle and 3-5 lbs when warm. It scared the heck out of me until I learned that this was normal. I thought it was a terrible oversight on Henry Ford's part to exclude the gauge on the mod A till I heard it really wasn't necessary. The was almost nothing to measure.

That plug DOES NOT hold the pump in place. If you use something to hold the pump in place there you may damage the pump or block and could cause pump failure and bearing damage.Sorry ment , oil pump in place.
I do understand this Greg,Mentioning the Dist. bolt was my accident. I am very sorry for the confusion.
