That looks like an extra capacity longer oil filter. I thought the Motorcraft FL-1A was the correct one for the old Y-Block spin on adaptors.

If I remember correctly the older Mopar V-8s had the same base as the common Ford filters they have been using since they started using spin on filters in the mid 50's until the 80's or 90's.

I like the WIX 51515 or equivalent. 1515 is the NAPA number.

Back into the fog of days gone by..... that sounds familiar.

if someone has this kit converters, what do you put as oil filter
Some folks don't think much of the current crop of Fram oil filters.
Back in the 70's / 80's when I had my previous V8 Ford's I had no complaints with the Fram filter.
Maybe they're made off-shore now, I don't know.

I bought the Napa Gold FIL-1515 oil filter for my '55/'57 292 (with spin-on kit), for break-in at least.

That Mopar filter crosses to the Fram PH8A and the Mototcraft FL1A, typical filters for the y-block.

Ditto on the Ford Mopar crossover. There were a variety of lengths, depending on the application and the space available. But the threads/contact surfaces were the same. I use a short version on the 'bird to clear the headers, and a smaller shorter version on the roadster. Same threads and o ring.

Motorcraft FL1A is the standard spin-on filter for Yblocks that have the cartridge-to-spin-on filter adapter kit installed. There is also a longer filter with same gasket surface - FL299A, or a shorter one - FL300. Depends on clearance but if your engine compartment hasn't been modified the FL1A works fine, it's what I use on my '56 Fairlane.

Yep the filter is the same I use [here in Australia] a Z9 for the 56 fairlane and a Z89 which is the short version for my Cuda [360] I need it because of the header clearance.
