Oil filter setup - ever seen this before?

I saw this oil filter setup today. The return line is a flexible hose that returns oil to the block via the timing cover bolt? Anyone ever seen anything like this? I would like to duplicate this on my '36 block. The black hose clamped to the spark plug conduit and generator bracket is the oil return line.

That was the second iteration of the oil return line. The first returned to a fuel pump mount banjo bolt, which proved to produce too much oil vapor out the upper vent pipe, and was replaced with this setup in 1940. This banjo bolt is to the distributor mount. The third location was at the dip stick on the oil pan.

You can duplicate this late 40 or 41 set up. Fram had a kit (K-29) for converting the early set up to this style. The kit comes complete with the flex tubing the special bolt and washers plus the mounting brackets and instructions. Occasionally see the kit for sale. Keep your eyes open. By the way 36 did not use this Fram style oil filter. 36 was the first year to offer the AC style filter as an accessory, which is completely different appearance.

Any photos of the AC style for a '36?

There are photos in the 38-39 V8 Club restoration book. This photo below is from the Ebay auction site and only shows the filter. Ford accessory oil filter from 36-early 40 was the AC. In about mid year 1940 the Fram style was released.

That clamp on the plug wire conduit is actually fairly rare and most often missing on restored cars. As has been stated previously, this was the second engineered routing of the return oil line, starting around May of 1940.
