oil filter installation

My dad left a used Fram aftermarket oil filter (orange Cylinder) but I cannot locate installation instructions for it. What size tubing is used to route the oil to the filter and does it go in the top or the side of the housing? Is the return tubing the same size and where does it go back and connect to the engine? Thanks!

Vern, 1/4" tubing. Inlet to housing is the side fitting. That tube comes from a threaded boss adjacent to the oil pressure sending unit. In line there must be a reduction fitting. The reducer must be between .058" and .065".

The return line is the same diameter as the pressure side. The easiest place to return it is directly to the oil pan. In 1941, there was a separate threaded boss near the front of the pan. In 1942 through 1948, that boss became integral of the dip stick boss.

I have the same oil pan as pictured with the separate "boss" On the inside is what looks like a solid plate (part of the mount.?) it has a very small hole in the bottom (hard to see)
Is this designed to be a restrictor? What about the restrictor in the brass "T' fitting going onto the filter? Are there Two?

Why do you have a tee fitting? Where does the other feed go? You should only have one restrictor and it should be in the block. A minimum of 1/8" on the outfeed.. I would investigate the other feed first.
