Oil Filter Cap Copper Washer, Restrictor

Something's not adding up.. On multiple levels. I am needing the dimensions or better yet, the part number for the copper washer that is supposed to be on oil filter cap bolt.

I also ran across a thread saying that there is a restrictor that goes just upstream of the filter. I did not receive one of these with my filter setup. Is there an alternative to the original that works correctly?

Thank-you! Cameron Koehn

You must have a restrictor orifice in the incoming line/fitting . . . as these filters are not designed to handle the volume of a fully open line.

Also, the output of these filters is the oil pan, so you don't want to be bleeding off your pressurized oil supply (and starving the bearings) by dumping it into the pan - so a restrictor is mandatory.

The one on my ‘46 Coupe is plastic. I got a replacement of a “spin”rack at my local parts store

After you heat up the copper to a cherry red, as 19Fordy said above, you quench the part in a bucket of water to complete the annealing process.
