I have a nice chrome canister Id like to use but discovered the inside spring is missing do you need this spring and does anyone sell these springs Thanks Ray
Yes you need the spring and the bit that pushes on the top of the filter element, don't know who sells them. Could you not pinch the one out of the one on the car? Guessing you've got one on your shoe box.
Martin.
Thanks for the reply Martin had a look at the stock one on the car but its attached to the top and I don't think I want to cut it out if no one is sell these Ill just look for a beater canister to get one out of Just wondering what would happen running it without that spring Thanks for your time Ray
The spring provides pressure on the rubber seals to keep oil from from bypassing the filter through the end cap holes. I would not hesitate from buying a similar size spring at the hardware store and cutting to length so it has some preload.
