Oil Filter Adapter Question

Just ordered an adapter kit for a spin on oil filter. What filter are you using if you have this conversion? 1956 Fairlane, 312 motor. I would like to use a Motorcraft FL-1A if it will work. Thanks

I once had a Town Car with a 302 and a LOT of miles. When I first cranked it you could hear all of the bearings rattle. Took it to a garage for overhaul. The guy looked at the Fram oil filter and told me to try a Motorcraft filter just for the heck of it before investing all of that money. Put the Motorcraft FL=1A filter on and that solved the problem. Seems it has a superior check valve system to other brands. Even though it appears to be rubber, it works.

If you have a Y block in a 55 or 56, the Motorcraft FL400 fits and its smaller size allows it to slide up in there with no hassles. I have been using these for years with good results. The FL1 was designed for 1957 engines. The FL 400 was designed for 1990's engines.

I will have to try that one; sounds like it may save some time trying to wiggle that filter out of a tight place.
