Oil change

Chances are you are not putting on a ton of miles. i would say spring and fall would be a good idea. My engine is well used and I use 20 -50 in the summer and put in 10 - 30 for the winter.

It depends on how hot the engine runs. Running up at 200 the oil gets black in a few days. I would say 2,000 miles at the most. Running below 180 my oil never gets black but gets to a slightly dark yellow. I still change it in 3,000 miles. I use castrol 20/50 in my 39 for over 30 years since start up, it still has 40 Lbs oil pressure is quiet and and don't burn a drop of oil. G.M.

Today's detergent oil get dark rather quickly because it holds in suspension soot and other products of combustion. Just because it gets dark within a 1000 miles or so does not mean you have to change it right away. 3,000 miles should be fine.

I also use Castrol 20-50 and have good oil pressure on a well used 53 Merc

I change mine every time the speedometer turns another 1000, which works out to be about every spring. It would probably go longer than that, but it's just an easy way to remember.

I change mine every spring. Probably put 1000-1500 miles on it. I never start it up during the winter months.
