oil can under hood question

Hi, I'm looking at a collection of oil cans, supposedly for Model A.

Does any one have a pic of the actual item, and its mounting bracket??

Most of mine are repops, except for one which might or might not be an original. Some have bent nozzles, some are straight, all have Ford script although I'm not sure about the size of the script. One script is very small.

My car is e28, A 11739. My understanding is that these cars came with a Ford oil can, but it was NOT under the hood on a bracket. Is this correct?
Where was the oil can kept?? Or did the dealer just hand it over to the new owner? That would have been messy.

Let me know if anyone has knowledge of this item. I think it would be useful for oiling the distributor and the linkages. Perhaps the long nozzle was needed to reach the throttle mechanism behind the block??

Thanks and Happy New Year,

Marty, here is my set-up. My Dad made the bracket for me.

Would Chief's autographed John Deere squirt can, PROUDLY displayed on my firewall, pass Judging Standards?? Bill W.

Depends on who is judging. I say Hell Yes Bill.__________

How about this? Also the spout is screwed outside the can not inside.

Ive actually never seen an A with the can under the hood. Just Ts. Im with John Duden Bill, without a picture it doesnt exist.

The oil can is shown and has a part number in the Jan 28 parts book but the bracket does not. I even asked my T buddy and he can't find any T part number for the bracket.
My guess is the oil can was supplied but there really wasn't anyplace to carry it in most body styles. That is probably the reason they quit supplying it.

is the 28 parts book specifically for As? I was reading at lunch about how ford announced after the production of the A he would still be producing parts for the T.

John & Keesey,
I have to make up the bracket, but IT WILL be there! I can post a pic of the oil can. It'll be my SPECIAL tribute to CHIEF!! It was his "SPECIAL" squirter & has his name scratched on it. I'm sure it will put out a SPECIAL AOURA (sp?) & keep my engine runnin' SUPERB!! & my underhood stuff oiled to perfection!!:D Bill W.:D

The book is for Model A's. The official title is "Model A Parts Price List".

FBer's, thank you for all of the data.

Here is a pic of the oil can that I am going to use, based on the data given.

Not sure if this is authentic Ford dealer part, but it's one of the four that I have which is genuinely old. In fact, the copper plating was corroded and I had to grind it on a wheel and repaint in copper.

The authenticity question has to do with the screw in spout, as opposed to internal threads on the spout. The script is in the right place, it is marked with an "E" for Eagle Manufacturing and the spout is the right size.

Does anyone know of a bracket which at least looks old fashioned?? The brackets I have are shouting "made in China" and look appropriately cheesy. If FB has a lead on a good looking bracket, I will pursue. My intent is to mount on the left side of the firewall, over the starter.

Thanks again,

This is the setup on the Fred Gooding / Hans Kalinka *A241*

Dean from Bozeman was considering having some of these brackets reproduced, I am not sure how he made out.

Yes...it's not entirely obvious in the pic, but the forward clip is hinged and is tensioned by a coil spring...very good design job (War Department funding!) compared to most.

My 30 Town sedan had one mounted on the passenger side of the firewall near the fuel line. Not sure who istalled it. The oil can looks old and has Ford in script on it. The bracket is L-shaped and the can snaps in at to bottom. It looks original but I don't know for sure.

My phaeton had this oil can with bracket under the hood. It attached to the firewall with one of the gas tank bolts.
