OHV conversions

Bill,
No apologizing necessary and no hi jacking IMO, as the original question seemed to be answered (seems best as could be).
Your info very helpful (torque/head gasket) and taken in the spirit of sharing that you give! I've heard this statement priorly i.e.- cast iron vs aluminum...and have often wondered why Winfield/others express that position? So 65lbs and any stainless steel washers undere head nuts,eh ?

Heat treated steel washers, take a look.

on cast iron vs. aluminum: Cast iron does not absorb heat as fast as aluminum so more heat is retained in the combustion chamber, thus more cylinder pressure, thus more power (assuming everything else is equal). Aluminum is often used only because it is easier to pour and machine, thus cheaper. Also, it is lighter, for those watching their weight!

Ahh, makes sense:)! All except the part about 'cheaper'! Mabe you're right...mabe the two ALUMINUM OHV heads that I checked on today (modern recreations...$4200. a pop...and without intake/water pump/gaskets/carbs/shipping and on/on) ...are a pigment of my immagination . Hmm, NO repop cast iron to campare with tho. Oh well, I love flatheads anyway;)

I know Ron Kelley had one on his AA. He pulled his speedster on a flatbed trailer nearly everywhere he went before he sold the AA while running 55+mph. I'd call him up.
