Offy heads Radiator Hose Connection Problem

I bought a new set of polished Offenhauser heads, installed them and went to attach the radiator hoses. Driver's side went on fine. When I got to the passenger side the hose will not fit. It appears that the hose connection is misshaped from the casting. I really don't want to use two different hoses but I don't know the best way to re-shape the head.

Looking for insight, ideas, etc.

Thanks,

Brendan

I'm assuming these are not 8ba style heads as you could just change the t stat housing. So is it too big for the hose?

I got them from H&H. They are on my 59AB.

Misshaped can mean anything, oval,square,triangular, etc. The water outlets are generally referred to as having a diameter.
Measure the diameters of the outlets and if there is a significant difference relay that information to H&H ( the supplier that you bought them from). I doubt that anyone on this forum can correct your problem based on the information that you have provided.

I have Offy 400 heads on my 59ab performance (284 ci) engine. I used the Gates one piece hoses from heads to '35 radiator connections. Everything connected perfectly.

Edit: I bought these heads about ten years ago, so maybe there was some type of QC in place back then.

Ferndog;
I had the same problem with my Offy heads. I would put it to a lack of quality control by Offenhaeuser. I cured the problem with a Dremel grinder and made the outlet both round and put grooves in the outside of the outlets that will help hold the hose on securely. I first tried to use them as they were and found that the hose would not stay on the outlet. It was not only out of round, it tapered from the head up. Try making them round with a Dremel or die grinder. I had a similr problem with offenhaeusers dual intake. The runners were full of globs of aluminum. Very poor to no quality from them.

most likely made off shore no quality control ,people making them wouldn't know a cyl head from a toaster dam shame

I am reasonably certain the seller wants you to be satisfied with your purchase. Just call them and explain your problem. It ain't up to you to fix it. You will have enough hassle in packaging and returning it.

Ralph asked earlier and it's important. Are we seeing this right as just an out-of-round thermostat housing? If so it will remove and mail easily and cheaply. They are also available in stainless if you just want to replace them. I'd be asking H&H...slim

It's not an 8BA engine.
