Off topic,accomodation advice

We are staying in LA for a week at the end of our visit and would like to stay down by the beach ,or within walking distance to a beach, shops and eating places.
Any ideas from Los angeles members.

i would look a site called airbnb.com. It helped me find accomidations that were nicer and cheaper than a hotel. I would also recomend Laguns beach for the "Festival of Arts" and the "Pagent of the Masters". There are other festivals there and the beach is nice with some tidepools nearby that are fun for the kids and adults. Anywhere from Newport beach down to San Clemente beach is very nice. I hope this helps.

Do you want to stay around the Los Angeles area? Or down the coast toward Newport / Laguna? There is a decent hotel at Dana Point, http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g32279-Dana_Point_California-Hotels.html

I've stay at the Best Western there at Dana POint.

Narrow the area down - when someone says "LA" they usually mean anything down south i.e. Disneyland, etc.
