Odometer problem

The tenths works fine, but it cannot push beyond 999.9 . The spodometer works fine and the tenths move, so I know the cable works. Just can't get to 1,000.
 
Like RonC says, it will have to come apart. Either there is a bad part internal to the odometer assembly, it was misassembled, or the old grease in there has turned solid. If you try to force it, it will break as the gears are made of pot metal. They aren't very tough.if you need assistance, email me. mark@marksspeedometers.com
 
Had that same problem when mine went to turn from 49999.

Fellow FordBarner "Papanick" can fix it and turn it around in a day. Looks brand new when you get it back.
