OD Cable, How do You Determine What Year???

Anyone know how to determine what year this OD cable is from? Thanks Rod

If it is a Ford part, I would venture to guess it fits a '49-'51 because they had chrome handles and the '52 up handles were painted black with "overdrive" printed in white.

I am only guessing it is Ford based on the other parts found near this while cleaning up the buildings at an old salvage yeard 2 1/2 years ago. Tons of stuff still to figure out, but making progress every week. Rod

40cpe is probably right..Merc was chrome 52-54 as was Lincoln but the handle is different.

ok, Thanks, will take it next door to the Early V8 Section. Was thinking it looked like what was advertized on e-bay by some for 55 and 56. E-bay is not the best source of info for sure, so always dbl check. Rod

looks a lot like the one in my '51 Merc. it is an original untouched car ( except I rebuilt the eng.)

Definitely '49 and '50 Ford; possibly also '51 Ford (although they had black plastic dash knobs). It could be made to operate any Borg Warner O/D of that era. eBay listings are notoriously incorrect for tech info on parts of this vintage......Bob L

I have one just like it and was told it came out of a 50-51 Ford...John in CT
