O/T Universal Code for different Wiring Circuit Colors

This question is not applicable to a Model-A, but we need to manufacture two separate Wiring Harnesses, -one for a 1935 fire truck we are doing, and the other for a 1926 orphan vehicle.

Since we can purchase era-authentic cloth-coated wiring in almost every color, -and many of those colors with different colored tracers, our thinking is we might as well fabricate it as authentically as possible. Does anyone know if there is such a thing as a 'universal code' for the different automotive wiring circuits? For example, is Headlight wiring generally Red while Ignition wiring might be Blue, and Tail lights are often Green (-or whatever)?? The vendor of the specialty wire was unaware but she said I might ask around. Not seeing anything on the web, ...but maybe I am not asking correctly for that info. Thoughts??

TIA.

yes but different countries had different codes... this page is from a UK article of the 1990s
I would hesitate to duplicate anything Lucas electric and expect it to function reliably. Says the former owner of a TR-3, worst car I ever owned.

If you look at Van Pelt's '35 Ford wiring diagram; it is marked with wire color initials and includes a chart explaining them. Wouldn't be too hard to make a list of colors matched to circuits and apply it to the fire truck's schematic.

Probably no reason not to use the same code for the other car.

You don't say what brands they are but I would look up a diagram for the same brand/year car if possible and go with that. For the orphan vehicle you could research a different year, same brand and see what you come up with. From what little I've seen the color codes seem to be consistent across a companies lineup.
