Numbers on crossrail 29 roadster

All,
I believe these are production numbers by body type within each assembly plant. I also feel they combined the 1928 and 29 years and then reverted back to number one with the introduction of the 1930 year. 1931 vehicles would have continued after 1930. I have some very low numbers on the early 1928 vehicles and likewise with the early 1930 vehicles. Keep in mind that all of the research has been done from collected numbers and there has been no evidence from the Ford archives to prove any of this.
We still have three plants not equated to their letter codes and I am still collecting these numbers.
I would like the plant number, engine or frame number and gas tank date for the 1928 and 29 vehicles and if the owner knows the history of the vehicle. The information on these numbers is on the MARC and MAFCA web sites and soon will be on the MAFFI site. Some individuals have also asked to copy it onto their own web sites.
Thanks to all have sent their numbers,
Dave

My 9-27-28 Phaeton has a body number TC476, and I'm sure there were more built in 1928 than in 1929, so it seems ti jive with Art's total for 1929.

I don't have my 2-23-29 Tudor body number in front of me, but I seem to recall it was well over 10,000.

Sorry Tom...the Phaeton assembly number for 1928 in the TC plant was 579.

Pluck

And my Dallas built Slant Window Town Sedan has it stamped on the drivers side between the door and the seat.

All,
I put a post on here yesterday morning that did not stay.
All of the research done on these numbers has been from collecting numbers. Nothing has been found in the Ford archives about these numbers and maybe nothing was ever written. This may account for the different size stamps being used, different locations and how to come up with the plant letter codes.
I am sure all 35 of the assembly plants stamped these numbers on some but not all of the Ford built bodies. I am fairly sure they are production numbers for each assembly plant and may be by body type. Like I noted above all of this research has been done from the great Model A group who have taken the time to send me the numbers from their vehicles. I am still collecting these numbers as the research continues and I am still looking for the letter codes from the last three assembly plants. I would like the plant number, gas tank date and the engine or frame number.
Thanks,
Dave
