The cotter pin jiggles around as you drive and keeps the dirt & debris from clogging the hole that drains the oil leaking from the rear main. I guess Henry accepted the fact that some oil would leak out. That's what I hear.

I'll pay the $8 or $6 or both if you will do the job for me. The old girl is on the trailer and ready to head to 10 uh Si .
I lean towards pulling the engine. I can do that without lifting the transmission.
John Carlson has a good idea, which had crossed my mind, but I don't like laying on cold concrete much more than lifting transmissions.
I'm still thinking, and that glass of ice was really refreshing. Come on over 31 Woody and ModelA29. You can come too, Jim. I'm not quite ready for the Cherry picker yet.
