Now let me get this straight.

Ryan, I would still like some type of explanation regarding your response on a post I made about an upcoming show in the PA area. Here is the thread on that post. Thank you, JM

That might have been a mistake on my part. At the time, I was really worried about all of my buddies on the HAMB over running the joint with traditional hot rods and customs. You know, stuff like blown Cads, hemis, and Olds motors stuffed in early Fords. That kind of content is more appropriate for the HAMB.

Sorry about that... For the record, I LOVE that event.

Now this is what I was referring to. Why can't we all get along? I may disagree with a guy rebuilding a 34 Flathead, but I'll defend to my death, he has the right to do it.

He absolutely has a right to do it... Hell, I have a '38 coupe with a 424-inch Reyher Morrison Small Block in it. Hot Rods are my deepest rooted passion.

However, early fords with traditional overheads like Cads, Olds, Chevs, etc... get more appropriate coverage on The Jalopy Journal. It's not a "can't we all get along deal" at all.

To me, it's more appropriate for the Ford Barn to focus on Ford only stuff. In the past, the Ford Barn has mostly covered early Ford restoration and performance improvements... There have been a few side bars here and there covering Hot Rodding and I think that's cool too. I'm sure there will be some overlap between the Ford Barn and The Jalopy Journal.

My goal here is to keep the Barn pure... as it has been... I don't want to change the content of this joint at all.

I do, however, have the HAMB/TJJ to contend with. See, the HAMB/TJJ is the largest hot rod publication in the world. Over 50,000 people view that site a day... and now that I own the Ford Barn (and especially now that it's public), many of these people are going to start checking out this site. My goal is to make sure this added traffic doesn't change the essence of the Ford Barn.

That's all.

Ron, you can post about anything you like. I know your history. :)

Fordbarn has always been about helping with flathead powered cars in what ever form the owner chooses. Lets keep it that way Dave/Green Bay

Yes sir.

Let me add one view. It's mine and if you disagree, it's still my perspective.

Some of you refer to Ryan as the "Boss." That may be appropriate and certainly is a sign of respect.

My respect however does not come simply from his owning The Ford Barn, but rather from the way he has handled this transition. He has not "bossed" his way into this new project. Instead he has begged to answer all questions, resolve all issues and put up with intense opposition to any changes. Unwarranted opposition from guys who did not know what they were opposing.

He posted his personal CELL PHONE number and made it available to us day or night for our concerns.

He brought the best software ... really surprised me.

This latest discussion has been about a comment he made that was a generalization ... he's promptly clarified it. Was anyone surprised by his response? Ryan has it right.

... so why the "Boss?"

Just consider what has happened here. We've found a "brother" not a boss.

Call him what you want but I'm sure he's EARNED the respect of a lot us ... he simply didn't buy it.

From past experience on forums, some of us need a "Boss" or a "Mom," as some called Shelly, to make us behave. Ryan has been very responsible, POLITE, and patient with us. Maybe we can pay it back.

We had a treasure in "Sister" Shelly ... and we have one in "Brother" Ryan.

Hoop
(I think Shelly paid HIM to take it over ... )

PS Below: My friend Speedy will be happy to know you all will let him post if he wants to.

Hoop... I love you man... And I don't even know you... Even your username rules. My favorite hot rodder of all time is a guy named Mal Hooper. Folks called him Hoop... Another story for another time I guess.

As for all of this boss talk, I don't know if it's appropriate on the Barn as 90% of the time, I'm the one doing the learning!!!

I'm good with not going over how to INSTALL a SBC or SBF, for that matter, here but I think some fellows are a bit extreme when a fellow MENTIONS that he is running a SBC, or SBF, and is discussing other aspects of the suspension or body and he dispatched to the HAMB. That dang 40 pkp I'm getting on the road has a SBC NOW but could have a SBF or Flathead in the future but there has been some interest in other aspects of the truck; namely the 36 car frontend and a storage idea for the bed. It has been in the old barn, with a reasonably warm welcome for well over a year. If I need to move, tell me. Thanks for putting up with me thus far. I love the place. Al

Good morning everyone, my user name is Throttle Jockey which is the name of a car club I belonged to way back when (we wre the Throttle Jockeys) I'm an old fart with a lot of time on my hands (goin' on 70 years old) and love old cars especially old Fords & Packards. Somewhere on the internet, I can't remember where (the legs don't go first) I ran across a site where you could hear the sounds of an old Ford flathead V-8, Crankin' up, idling, and reving up. It was great-any of you folks know where I could find somthing like this??? Thanks for having me, Throttle Jockey
I think you will find that on Mac Vanpelt's site. I don't think there is a link here yet, but you can google it.

HOOP, the origin of being referenced to as the "BOSS" is carryover from the HAMB. keeping this place "all ford" is really great with all the info that passes through here daily. just don't give up on posting pictures of any/all ford related projects cause even if its your old pars car sitting out back of the shop their is gonna be something about it even as reference that will help somebody.

Ryan, Thank you for the follow-up on my question. I do really appreciate having this website and all you do to keep it going. Keep the shinny side up and keep 'em flat. JM

Hoop I have to agree with you, I may have misunderstood Ryans Comments. I'm just getting used to this format, even got into trouble with Bubba, I explained that in the other thread. I hope. As for Ryan,Yes he's done a good job getting us old reprobates to join this forum and I do respect him. May not always agree with him, but this is his forum. I wrote my book to help people and that's the only reason I' here.

Hoop Love that dyno.

That's Speedy (Spiers) and his dyno ... the boy is still turning out marvelous flatheads.

(Sorry for getting so mushy about the brother stuff, but Ryan IS doing a great job.)

Thanks Flatjack9, found the site but haven't found the "Music" I'm lookin' for yet. I'll keep searching. It's my first day here and may have posted this in the wrong place, gimme some time I'll learn more about the place but Thanks again, Throttle Jockey

Throttle Jockey. I'm from Stratford CT (long time ago) and sure would have liked to have been in the Throttle Jockeys. Alas, I had to wait decades before I could accumulate several flathead Fords. I ascribe my long interest in them to the envy I had for you guys back in the 1950's.

I believe some of the confusion about this may be due to some of the new folks posting here that were on another site. The pictures they introduced on their posts were more towards current "street rod" crap. Traditional hot rods did not have garbage truck engines and copy cat color schemes, plastic bodies, automatic transmissions etc.
