Now let me get this straight.

Ol' Ron

Well-known member
I just got an email explaining the intent of the NEW Ford barn. AS I understand it we can only discus STOCK Fords with NO modifications, as this would be a HotRod.
Hot cams, better ignitions, milled heads, etc is tabo. How about better breaks, radial tires.
So The New Ford Barn is for
restoration only?
My apologies to Bubba.

Ron, Please let us know who sent you the email about 'stock only' on Ford Barn. I'm sure that it wasn't Ryan, our new administrator. I have never seen anything on either the old or the new Ford Barn that dicates that premise!! Additionally, the Early V8 (1932-53) section is obviously more that just the flathead V8 engine. It's also about transmissions, rear ends, brakes, electrical, cooling, suspensions, etc. Please do not despair, your input to the Barn has always been appreciated. Keep on posting!!

Ol' Ron was it from Ryan? if not we have somebody thats impersonating the "BOSS" and needs to be dealt with. post a name and lets all send them a email letting them know thats not true about what they claim the site is about.

Ron, it seems there are a couple of guys on here that are intimidated by some of the HAMB guys who have come over here. I don't get all the concern. We certainly had lot of talk on the old Barn about hopping up flatheads and certainly plan on continuing to do so. Nobody is talking about putting brand x in. Let's keep on keepin' on.

I think what Ryan meant

I think what Ryan meant was Fordbarn EV8 is to relate to flatheads as opposed to other types of engines. Flathead hot rods are fine, just not the chebby and other weird breeds.

i think this link might be to what Ol' Ron is referring....personally, i like the hot rod side of the old 'Barn....getting a little more juice from the engine, etc., while keeping the body pretty much stock....ah, well, i hope we can all get along and have fun while we're discussing and learning about the old Fords...and I think this section of the 'Barn is more than being about stock Fords...Mike

Guys,

Before anything else is posted, let's be patient please and I'll have Ryan post a clarification.

I could do it but in this case I think it is appropriate that Ryan does so there is no mis-understandings.

Thanks,

I got a similar feeling on a response from Ryan when I made a post about who else may be going to a show in PA called the Jalopy Showdown. Here is that thread with Ryan's response included......... http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1112&highlight=Jalopy+Showdown
I requested some type of clarification from Ryan on this and he never responded. I would also like a good definition on this subject now. If we are only interested in posting about stock restoration here on the New Barn, then that's a big departure from what the Old Barn was about. Furthermore, stock restoration is more the calling of the Early Ford V8 Club of America and if we want that type of discussion we can always go to their website and use their forum.
Yes, I got the same impression that Ol' Ron got in the E-mail that someone sent to him. So, I ask again on this post, what are the intended rules for posting here regarding this subject????? Would Ryan or someone appointed by Ryan please respond to this question. Thank you, JM

That is not at all right... We aren't changing the direction of the Ford Barn. While the place focuses on early restoration stuff, we welcome Early Ford performance modification theories...

I think what you probably got was something related to the street rod forum being gone. The one change we have made... Stuff like putting a SBC in a '40 Ford won't be covered here.

Before this thread gets closed I can almost guarantee it wasn't Ryan,,it seem ol ron and another member has issues with one another.

Having seen how Ryan handles this type of problem I would suggest all the third party's stay out of it and keep let Boss handle this.

The last sentence Ryan is music to my ears.

So, are we cool? Any problems? This sound good?

Essentially, we don't want the content of the Ford Barn to change at all from what it was...

Ryan, I would still like some type of explanation regarding your response on a post I made about an upcoming show in the PA area. Here is the thread on that post. Thank you, JM

"Anyway, I thought a formal announcement was appropriate to post here as we have had a bunch of users migrate to the Barn just to check things out and get a feel for it. Obviously, this has been great for the site and the community as a whole, but I think it’s important to kind of set direction for the fellas that are making their way over. Put shortly, The Ford Barn is not a hot rod or custom site. While the site does have a sidebar here and there that covers some performance improvements (the joint is literally crawling with flathead geniuses) it is more focused on the restoration for early Fords."

Now this is what I was referring to. Why can't we all get along? I may disagree with a guy rebuilding a 34 Flathead, but I'll defend to my death, he has the right to do it.

Good morning everyone, my user name is Throttle Jockey which is the name of a car club I belonged to way back when (we wre the Throttle Jockeys) I'm an old fart with a lot of time on my hands (goin' on 70 years old) and love old cars especially old Fords & Packards. Somewhere on the internet, I can't remember where (the legs don't go first) I ran across a site where you could hear the sounds of an old Ford flathead V-8, Crankin' up, idling, and reving up. It was great-any of you folks know where I could find somthing like this??? Thanks for having me, Throttle Jockey

Without the help of Ol'Ron, Walt, JWL and many other Fordbarners I would have never been able to put a 37 McCullough supercharger on my 35 21 stud. It is hotroding as many of you did in the 40's as kids. You purest might not agree but the Fordbarn has always been about helping with flathead powered cars in what ever form the owner chooses. Lets keep it that way Dave/Green Bay
