nothing sounds like Y block

That was what the exhaust guy was saying basically. Blocking the exhaust crossover on our Y blocks would tend to make them cold blooded would it not? Although this would also be preferable in hot weather. And maybe keep percolation at bay with modern gasoline formulations.

I've wanted to try this, I was thinking maybe just snaking some thin shim stock in there, after loosening the center intake fasteners. This should work I'd think. In other words there's no reason to remove the entire intake to block them off?
The shim stock method was common back in the day.

Couple of thoughts. While a Blue Thunder manifold has those passages, Mummert’s intake doesn’t. Obviously performance manifolds. Most gasket kits have inserts to reduce the opening to a small round one. I believe that was a HD truck application. I’ve always blocked mine with shim material, but I run manual chokes or no choke on my blower motors. Slipping a shim in might work, depends on how long the manifold has been on and if you can get it in. But unless you drive off cold in temperatures below about 40 degrees, I’d give it a shot.
