Not Model A Related vs. "Not Model A Related" Posts...

Every once in a while we as a group want to post something of interest that is NOT Model A related to this fourm.

We all have other interests as a group and some of us even have the same interests, some may not, and that is OK by me (as it should be).

As far as posting NON MODEL A RELATED SUBJECT MATTERS, I for one think it is ok AS LONG AS IT IS REPRESENTED OR PRESENTED AS SUCH in the "Title" or "Headline" or whatever of the original post.

Most of the time, and maybe even a lot of times, we are courious and see just what it is all about and sometimes if it is a NON RELATED MODEL A PROBLEM, some of us may be able to help our Model A/AA friends out who are in need and if not...just move on. I would just as soon ask my friends here on Fordbarn than anywhere (depending on the subject matter) as there is one hell of a lot of knowledge and ideas among all of us.

I for one like tractors and trains...I like knowing others who are also interested in the same subjects who have the same Model A Ford interest as I do but that is just me.

The post's I don't like are the ones where it is a NON MODEL A RELATED post and the "title" does not represent it as such to let us know.

Anyway...that is my take on it.

I'm a new guy here, but have been a member of several classic British motorcycle sites for many years. Most of those have a specific "chat" forum for discussions on non technical topics. These unrelated forums do go through lots of growing pains when politics and religion arguements as well as other inappropriate things pop up.

On an "unrelated" (ha, ha) topic. I'd really like to see a gallery where members can post photos of their cars all in one place so I can oogle at them.

I think a link to see all Albums would be nice, but amybe not do-able. As for the "Off Topic Posts" they are good in moderation in my opinion and have added greatly to the strengh in numbers saying. Rod

I agree with Tom, We all have other interests. Trains don't thrill me, however my wife's cousin is a guy named Mike Eagleson and he has written a number of books about steam trains. I can respect his passion. I've restored a couple of tractors and I can get more excited about them. I used to have a strong passion for antique guns.
There's nothing like siting at the range, shooting an obsolete calibre, say a Sharps in 40/65. Or a British Bulldog in .44 Bulldog. Or a Rem.Rolling block in .25 stevens. Or a .43 Spanish in a rolling block. My all time weirdest was probably the Italian Glisenti in 10.4mm Glisenti. But I digress! Ford Barners are not one trick ponies! If a person is attracted to Mod.A s, chances are, he's had a ongoing love affair with all things mechanical, the Mod A is just the latest.

This was the only "off topic" post I could find so hopefully it will fall in "other interests" such as trains and tractors :)
If any of you are Social Networking types who do Facebook I would appreciate if you would check out The National Police Gazette FB page where I am one of the editors.
We try to carry on in the Police Gazette's tradition of the most outrageous yet true stories to be found.
Thanks for any looking and apologies if this was TOO off topic.

Great post Steve! I got to the Ford Barn through the HAMB, and despite the "rules" the HAMB has far more automotive historians that Ryan has allowed to run some of the most viewed "NON Hot Rod' topics. Race Cars 1894-1944, black & white photos Pre WWII, and a new one on T Speedsters. We all love history and I think it is a great way to share info that we have and others are looking for. I've always thought a "What is it" thread on odd old things we have would be a great help. Just think, once you know what that widget is you could advertize it in hopes of funding your latest restoration project. OT posts are fine with me, just as long it the topic is Pre WWII era. Bob

A tractor forum on which I'm active asks that off-topic posts include the letters "OT" in the title. Helps a lot. And I agree with Steve's thesis.

Has there really been a problem with off topic items like trains and tractors?

I would think that is a non A topic took off a group could be formed so that it could continue non abated or lost from slow activity.
