Not liking the old school ******

No, that is not right. Chassis Engineering sell a wishbone mounting plate, and a bolt on ****** mount can easily be fabricated so no butchering apart from a couple of bolt holes. I wish people would get their facts straight on things before making emotive and erroneous comments.

Boy, you have that right!!

The T5 modified for torque tube out is a good way to go.
Minimum mods to the car.

I don’t know why everyone jumps to the Chassis Engendering setup

Remove the center of the X member (no cutting)
Then
All you need to do is change the yoke in the 35 up wishbone to a 28 - 34 wide yoke - make a ball socket from a cap - anchor it on the new T5 cross member.

For the open drive rear
Cross spring hangers and a pair of P&J style long ladder bars

You still have an un split wishbone and only drilled a few holes

Hi bluardun, no I'm pretty festidious when it comes to pretty much everything. '39 ****** perfect, researched the guy and he came thru. Even had him rebuild my original in case I ever sold vehicle. This is my first indulgence into the pre '50's ford. Build went great and fun. Redid a '57 nomad, 57 Chevy cpe, '57, '58, '62, '63, '69 Vette's and a '67 442, all sticks and love the shifting. Still have 442. At the risk of being spanked verbally they were all fun to drive / shift, this ( only my opinion so far) ain't! Love the perf from the Flatty, love the look and all the compliments, but not the shifting.

Anthony, I hear you. Sounds like you have plenty of experiece. Didn't mean to talk down to you about the assembly of the transmission. It's a fact that the 30's cars were an improvement for drivability over the late 20's and early 30's, but still not comparable to the cars from the 60's and up. The picture of your '35 looks like a beautiful sedan. Truly to be enjoyed as a vintage car. However the fact is; the ride, performace, stopping, and overall comfort won't compare to the later year model cars. They do have the style and romance of the era they were built in.
It's your car... you need to make it comfortable, and fun to drive, so you and your family can enjoy the car and the hobby. Or leave it totally stock, and in the garage.
Thanks

why not just run am overdrive in the torque tube such as an De -Normanville as used in Austin Healeis etc. some machine work needed Roger

Thx all for good input as usual on the Barn. Gave me some good ideas to think about. Found this on the Internet for T5 conversion, http://www.lainefamily.com/ModelAFiles/ModelAT5.htm#
looks like great instruction and info on a pretty inclusive kit for T5 conversion ( everything but ****** ). I'm looking for similar kit / instruction for the 84-87 Ford F150 RTS trans conversion. Both look interesting with minimal modification to the frame. Leaves wishbone intact as Bassman/NZ indicates. Not doing anything til cold weather sets in and the cruising season is over.
Thx all
