John, if you do what the guys here are telling you, plus clean every connetion, including all grounds, to a bright shinny finish, I'm betting that Flathead engine will purr again like a kitten.

Hello all, cleaned and put on jump wires, car started on problem, great advice. Now have to find NOS repair kit for ignition. Again I thank you very much, john
 
Hi there, If you require a contact plate and a brush which are the parts which have the contacts in your ignition switch, then make sure you buy NOS (new old stock genuine ford ) parts and not reproduction. Thank you all for good advice. Couldn't believe it but the ignition was bad. As a result from this site I was given a vendor who had the NOS ignition replacement. Installed today, went for a good ride to get all bugs out with my best friend, Murphy, he's 8 going on 9 and is a handsome guy. Dachshund , he loves the ford. Thank you everyone for your patience. John
