no start condition

I finally have a problem --turns over nice ,ran really well last week

gas to carb good

key on= blue spark at points

key on= ampmeter sometimes jumps neg sometimes not is this a clue?

what i did recently replaced bad ignition switch with a good quality one ran fine after that any ideas wold be helpfull thanks

The ammeter will show discharge if the points are closed but won't show anything when open.

Are you getting good spark at the plugs - if you have copper connectors just short the top of the plug to the head with a plastic handled screwdriver while cranking - should be a nice spark.

If the meter doesn't show discharge when the points are closed and key is ON, then the points contacts may need to be cleaned. They sometimes get corrosion after setting during humid weather or for long periods of time.

Tom you were right cleaned the points and it fired,needle on amp jumps when cranking thanks evryone
fixed it by flaslight
now i can take my 90 year old mom in law to brunch Sunday
