No spark

Mike V.
I liked your no spark troubleshooting guide very much. Very clear and understandable. However the last sentence says, "Remove the paper from the points and see that the points are closed. You should not have 0 volts at the points." Did you mean to say you should have 0 volts?

oops, yes the points should be closed and zero volts. If you have a voltage and the points are closed you have dirty points. Thanks for the find! Unfortunately, the posts are too old to edit. In the future, I will copy the post with the change instead of pointing to the old post. Thank you again for letting me know.

With the clips off the distributor cap, the rotor spring pressure will lift it up slightly. If it doesn't, then the carbon in the center is likely too worn, and the cap should be replaced.

Those straps to the plugs should never need to be replaced, but if you do, then buy the bronze ones, as they have better spring action than the brass ones.
