No Cash Law

I live in New Orleans La. and this is the first I have heard of this!

This law will put flea markets out of business.

So now if I sell a part to a fellow club member for 25 cents he has to go to the post office and get a money order?

Not much to worry about here. It would likely be thrown out in a court challenge due to the numerous federal currency laws that this violates. It's akin to printing your own currency...

It says right on my dollar bill, "This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private." It couldn't be stated any more plainly, even for a politician. I don't know how they're going to get around that.

Ha, ha..ha:D! That's rich...'it says right on my dollar bill':D:D!
So , I go into the bank with the 100 'silver certificates' that I've kept since 'hector' was a pup(70 yrs or so ago)...and demand my silver...security demanded I leave...and take my certs with me:eek:

Chill....as this is just ANOTHER of 5000 frivolous bs 'laws' passed each year that the general population scoffs at. That's why their call scofflaws,eh!

That's a law that will be chalenged in short order! I sold a motor scooter scooter and a generator last week to two total strangers. Cash was the only way I would have considered selling the items. This is a law that will get tossed as soon as the first person challenges it, JMHO.

I like the part of accepting credit cards at garage sales.. Feels like (if Louisiana is a Sales Tax state) they are looking for new sources of sales tax revenue.. My 2 cents (lol)

WE have the biggest set of idiots running the GREATEST third world country in America. They can come up with the goofiest garbage for laws done here. Don't for the ins so we can raise a new crop here in Louisiana.

Yes! It's federal law being superceded by state law. I'll bet it stands! Not that I want it to, but it's so screwed up and fascisist that I bet it will stand! They want to squeese cash out of the society and this would be a step in that direction. BTW I need confirmation on this, but I was told that when O____care gets going, if you can't pay your hospital bill, they'll take the money out of your bank account before you leave the hospitaL.
Anyone else hear that?

I think this will piss off enough people to storm and burn Baton Rouge. How can it be legal for a State to restrict the use of US currency within it's borders. I seriously doubt this will stand.

A lot of weird stuff happens. I stopped at a bank to get change for a $100 bill and they wouldn't give it to me because I didn't have an account with them.

How will the no cash thing affect swap meets?

I thought CT was bad. In the end it's all about taxes. They want taxes on items that have been taxed when made and sold. Keep on taxing!!!!

read about this last night and i haven't read that its a spoof yet.

if you live in one of their legislative districts I suggest you contact them to indicate how stupid and wrong this law is..

of another note.. anyone recall the "value added tax" that was discussed a few years? ago?

just another thing to keep tabs on.

Sound like a hoax to me
I searched HB 195 in Louisiana House of Representatives for 2011, and this bill was a "no record" this year and last year was about parole hearings.
WHAT is "My Gov 365", the source of most of this information?
Someone's BLOG?

Did we miss it April First ?
