no adjustment on strom. 97?

is this a sign of bad power valve? the engine also pops on the left bank. the rightt side i can get a some adj. but very little.or do you think dirty carb. reguards dick t.
 
check your compression too. I had a bad head gasket between 3 and 4 that gave me the same symptoms. My power valve was ok. that is if by pops, you mean crossfire or backfire.
 
Possibilities in order of probability:

Snubbed mixture screw
Clogged idle jet
Clogged main jet
Blocked idle passages in base

A little dirt can go a long way.
 
sorry, my fault....was thinking idle mixture adjustment....fingers just didn't follow what my brain was thinking....lol....i'll let the experts diagnose....good luck....Mike
 
I have found if the air adjustments have no effect there was excessive wear in the throatle shaft. G.M.
 
Merc,
Take the carb off the table....Swap your carb with a known good one.
Dirt or a marginal rebuild might be a cause of your situation but a crappy set of
plugs can also cause what you describe. Burned valve/s, etc blah, blah, blah .
