After fixing my PS cylinder leak, I found that my transmission in park will start engine an take off in reverse, when put in drive it wont go into gear until I move it between D and N, Are there bushings on shifting rods that would cause this

I'm guessing here. Have someone move the shift lever while you hold the lever at the end of the column, under the hood. If this is tight, then it's got to be in either the rod adjustment to the trans, or loose or missing bushings on the rod. I don't know what your car used, but it could also be just worn rod ends and oblonged holes where it goes thru.

I guess there could be a broken roll pin inside the column, top or bottom, but I really don't know. Just track the "loose" place down till you find it. And not running, you don't want the car running away with you under the hood.

its never is what it should be, removed steering wheel, took apart, found it was dry, lubricated the selector and played with for a while, got it to go into park easy and adjusted the selector seems to work fine. I didn't have all the horn parts, that will be another project.
