Hi everyone, i am rebuilding a39 ford sedan with the v8 flathead. The engine is shot and i was wondering if one from a 52 car would work. I know the older engine has the bellhousing cast into it but was wondering if i had the bolt on style bellhousing from the 52 if it would work?

Welcome to the Barn!! You have come to the right place for Ford flathead support.
This is a very common modification/upgrade, but as other have said it involves more than just finding the correct bellhousing adaptor and bolting it up. It has been accomplished so often there will be plenty of help here on the Barn and other places. It is not a complicated mod, but don't under estimate it taking a little thinking through.

If you do a search much info will appear as this 8BA or 8CM swap has been discussed many times.
Start here and read everything. 40 is almost the same mechanically as the 39 when it comes to doing this engine swap.
