Newbie to Model A's looking at a '30

Congrats on getting the car! It looks like the passenger front door is sagging when it is open. At least from the picture of it in the barn it does. IF it is sagging, be careful as the Briggs body is a wood body and you may need to do some wood repairs.

Beautiful car. On my 28, the clamp referred to in #3 for holding the pop-out cable to the block is approximately .54 inches thick so you will need a few washers to make-up that original thickness. There was no lock washer under the nut. Now I am concerned since I installed a new pop-out without draining the antifreeze and may have inadvertently contaminated my oil. I guess I'd better drain it.
Good luck with the car.

Nice plane!

Thanks! cruises all day long indicating 165 MPH, when I get up to 10,000 ft I routinely see 195 mph on the GPS.. 1959 Technology passing the 2012 planes all the time.
Makes the 10 drive to see my daughter only take 3 1/2 hours, and I can do it non stop!
I love this plane.

hmmm I'll look closely at that. It closes fine. It might be some wierd picture distortion though, that picture makes me look like some sort of giant and that I'm standing right next to the car, I was actually about 3 feet from it.

Drove it around a bit today... better than I thought it would be but now I have more questions... which I'll save for another thread...
Thanks everyone!

Your car would not have that early 1/2" clamp. You should have something about 1/4" thick, just a bent piece of metal.

Nice Bellanca!! One of my favorites. A lot of airplane for the money in it's day. I really like your Fordor too.

Mike, it's been a few weeks but I didnt want you to think I ignored your comments about the door/wood.
Today I took a hard look at that area, on both side. The door pillars are solid, all hinge screws are tight, and there doesnt appear to be any past damage significant to cause them to sag - but the front doors do hang down further than the rears - on both sides and they sag equally.
They're nice and tight when closed.
Now I have to wonder if the upper hinges are incorrect?
maybe someone who knows much more about this than I (which would be just about everyone here) could chime in...
