Newbie question I'm stuck Ignition Wiring

I'm doing a off frame restoration of a 1931 Murruy so far so good I have the mechincals done. I'm to the point now were I want to wire the car to get the new series B engine started, when I got the car the previous owner stripped out all the wiring so I had nothing to go by.

My question concerns the ignition switch which the previous owner cut the wiring at the pigtails so I can not identify the terminals by the color of the wire all my manuals show just two connection at the switch and mine has three. The upper left reads BAT, the right reads STA and the bottom middle reads IGN.

I have a new wiring harness for the ignition.
1: Which connection on the switch does the armored dist. wire go on (black)?
2:Which connection does the (red) wire that goes to the positive side of the coil connect to?
3: I'm not sure what STA stands for and what color wire would connect to this terminal?

The engine spins right over when I hook up the battery and hit the starter button. I converted from a generator to an alternator would the yellow wire with the black strip connect to the back of the Alt.?

I have the Model A wiring Diagram with Cowl Lights from Lincoln Publishing and once I get this figured out the wiring looks pretty straight forward.

Thanks,

It seems that you have an aftermarket ign switch, you can hook the wire from the coil to "batt", and the wire from dist to "ign" ---check to see that the switch will fit without shorting out on the gas tank when the panel is fitted --sta is for a wire to a starter -not used

John, You have an aftermarket switch for a late model car. The Sta. is for start and has a spring load to it so it won't stay in that position on a late model car. You need either an original switch with the large armor cable leading to the distributor or an aftermarket with the small armor cable. You only get on and off. When in the on position you get juice to the points and your floor starter turns the engine over. Turn the key off and you turn the motor off. You'll get a lot more advice I'm sure! Good Luck!
You already did. I'm a little slow typing this morning?
