Newbie front wheel wobble question

I have a intermittant wobble in the right front wheel not related to speed or hitting a bump. I have jacked it up and have no play when I try to move the wheel from top to bottom so assume the king pin is fine but I have about 1 inch of wobble side to side when I shake to tire, I am thinking steer arm worn or tie rod end worn or needs adjusted. Am I on the right track? Les Andrews book doesn't say much about these areas. Thanks for any help. Don

Check the left side also, it could be a broken spring in a tie rod end, or accumulation of slop in the tie rod ends. After tightening the tie rod ends you will need to check the toe in setting.

Don, sounds like you are on the correct track. You may also want to check your wheel to be sure it is straight and does not wobble. If you have a nylon tire on the wheel, it may also give you a sense of wobble.

Friend Dave corrected his wobble by tightening the nuts that hold the steering arms to the spindles, they were just BARELY loose! Bill W.
