Hi all: As the heading says, newbi. I have a '29 ford model A Tudor (sp?) that I want to put locking outside door handles on it when I go visiting. The passenger side HAS the locking style but I want to have the same on the drivers side. I think the answer should be simple. Yes or no BUT, today is different from.. The co. I deal with up here in Canada is Vintique if this is any help. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help available. Wayne.

I don't think Henry put locking handles on the driver's side. You're supposed to lock your door from the inside, slide across, and get out the passenger side.

Geo. H is correct there were no locking handles on the drivers side. I would doubt that anyone makes a reproduction handle that would work.

Youre in luck. Tudor, Coupe & 30-31 closed cab trucks use a symetrically shaped handle. Snyders Site confirms this "right locking handle can be used on left but not original". Handle can be rotated 360 degrees in the outside escutchion and position is determined by how shaft is placed in the lock. Only difference should be that key will enter lock in the oposite direction of right side (upside down vs right side up) and turn in the oposite direction to lock & unlock (unless the locking cylinder is positioned by the lock assembly as well, which I do not know). Recomend you verify this with whom ever you buy from for their handle and buy two keyed alike.

What Tim B. said. It works, I have 2 keys (lazy), one for pass side original, one for new drivers side. Works for me. Paul in CT

Sorry, but Henry DID use a locking door handle on the drivers side. They were on the 1931 Special Delivery and it's the scroll type! Very very rare but it does exist.
