Newbe with a hood question

I have a 28 roadster and I have a question, should there be rubber hood bumpers down on the lower sides to isolate the hood sides from the body when they are latched? Also, Did the 28 Roadsters have a catch or some type of support to hold the hood open when checking the oil etc?

The 28 and 29 Model A's have hooks on the radiator top tank to hold the hood open.

Yes, there are round rubber bumpers riveted to the hood sides to prevent the latches from rattling.

As Bob said, the rear bottom hood corner gets a leather protector.

Many good pictures to be found in the "SERVICE BULLETINS" and "RESTORATIONS GUIDELINES".

I guess I need to educate myself. I'll pick up those publications and get to it. Unfortunately mine has none of the above items, no hooks, no pads and no bumpers. : (

Caperss, Welcome and they are not hard to install. I think they are screwed onto the hood. If they are riveted then the suppliers have the rivet tool.

Welcome!!!

There are hood bumpers that go between the latch and the hood on the outside of the hood and ones that go on a bracket that attached to the frame and goes behind the hood in the engine compartment;

Next you have hood corners, the originals were leather but they also sell them in rubber. If you get the leather ones we will give the proper instructions on how to install.

This is a picture of a reproduction radiator but you can see the hooks for the hood in it.
