New to V8s

My wife and i just bought a nice 40 Deluxe Fordor with 42,000 miles on it. It's a sweet looking car but has suffered from lack of use for about 30 years. The carb and fuel pumps are off to CharlieNY for restoration while I putter around with many other fixit jobs. I'll need tires and wonder what you think of going from 600-16 to 650-16, any problems ahead? What about 700-16, are they either too fat for the chassis or, in your opinion, look out of place on a stock Fordor?
When I pulled the fuel pump there was corrosion down the stack so the manifold is coming off. Then there's the sludge….and the brakes..and wiring and more.
I've spent many years with A's and T's but this is the first V8 and it is going to be a great car once it's ready for the road.

Here's the new car.

Wow! What a nice looking car! (Be careful with all that extra horse power). Enjoy your new ride!

You and your wife certainly have found a nice car to start V-8'ing around in :). Going from 600 to 650 x 16's would not be a problem other than a slightly lower reading on your odometer and speedometer. 700's would probably fit under the rear fenders okay, but not sure they would clear in front on a sharp and somewhat bumpy turn. Now if you wanted a hotrod look, you could put 700 blackwalls on the rear and 550 to 600 blackwalls on the front :)
Just take your time and tackle the sludge, brakes, wiring, etc., etc., ....one thing at a time until all is done and you have that nice looking '40 on the road again. Fordor sedans make great touring cars.

Try some RMI-25 in the cooling system. Burn-out-Bob who posts here recommended the stuff to me for cleaning out the block and rad and keeping them clean. You just pour it in and keep running it. I've just put some in my car as it was inactive for some 20 odd years but it is too soon to give you a result. I respect B-O-Bs knowledge. Google RMI - 25 for the full guts on the stuff. Anyone else used it?

By the way nice fordoor.

Thanks for all the comments about the Fordor. As usual, Fordbarn is a great place to get answers. JM 35 Sedan, good tip on the tires. Wife says ww tires so who am I to argue? She actually encouraged me to buy the car…. Graeme NZ, I'll drain and flush the cooling system and then look into the RMI-25. Thanks everybody, keep those hints coming.
I wish there were a Les Andrews red book for EV8's the way there is for A's. What's a good, detailed repair manual to get me started? Thanks.

Great looking car, I suggest you drive it some before buying new tires. I really like the looks of the bias on my car, however the more I drive it I'm seriously considering WW radials. Once you buy new tires your going to feel stuck with them.
Enjoy the fun.
