Ok. Picked up my 1954 Customline 239 3 spd 1 year ago. I am going through it to get it ready for a cross country trip.
I picked up an overdrive 3 speed and it looks pretty good.
I downloaded the BW overdrive manual and understand the wiring and principles.
What I do not have is pictures or diagrams of the external set up. Especially the cable and related brackets and the arm on the transmission. I can fabricate much of what I need if I have a picture to go on.
Is the cable a pull and lock type or just stiff enough to maintain position?
Once I get the relay and throttle switch, how are they mounted and located?
The BW manual shows a lock out switch but my Ford manual does not. Is this needed?
Other than that, i need to replace the wires on the solenoid and replace the contacts and boot on the governor.
Any pics or help would be greatly appreciated.

Warmit.....if you are by chance local in SoCal, you are welcome to check out my '54 Ford and my '54 Mercury, both of which are 3 speed OD cars. If not, send me your email address by way of a private message and I will send you some pictures of the dash mounting bracket and its location as well as the OD lever arm to which the cable attaches on the transmission. No lock out switch is used on the Ford setup and the kickdown switch is mounted under the gas pedal. I think that there is a round factory dimple or knockout in the floor pan under the pedal which shows the location for the switch. The relay is mounted on the firewall under the hood. Concours Parts, C & G Ford Parts and Carpenter Ford Parts all sell replacement cables and kickdown switches but the lever arm on the transmission where the cable attaches is not reproduced to my knowledge. VanPelt Sales has lots of new and used Ford OD transmission parts and can probably sell you the lever if yours is missing and maybe even the dash mounting bracket.

The friction of the lock-out cable is all that is needed to hold the selected position.
